I'm in Love: Porsche 911 Club Coupe

Lately I've grown to love basic 911s. For 95% of occassions, a base 911 Carrera Coupe will do. In fact, I don't particularly like the quad exhausts on "S" models. Two exhausts just look more balanced. More understated. Here's proof:

Contrary to my beliefs that the only options a 991 would ever need are 19 inch wheels, a Sport Design steering wheel and Sport Suspension (-20mm), I have now fallen completely head over heels in love with the 1 of 13 Club Coupe. I used to dislike the expensive lawn mower blade Sport Techno wheels, but painted partially black they work. Especially on that Porsche racing green paint and enhanced by the Sport Design aerokit. Very tasty. And very fast, aided by the eye-watering expensive +30 bhp PowerKit. The subtle 911 badge replacing the paragraph of text usually found on 991s is a nice touch as well.

What do you think OPPO. Is this one of the nicest 911s to look at since we laid our collective eyes on the Sport Classic 997?

Reminds me of the wheels on my Mk7 GTI. Which I don't like at all. First thing I'm getting for my car is new OEM wheels.

Yep, right up there with the Sport Classic. This is a gorgeous car. 10/10 would own.

The new ducktail 911 looks fantastic. This it at the local porsche dealership and I love it: http://leith.porschedealer.com/new/Porsche/91…

That's funny because I had an Mk5 GTI with the stock horseshoe wheels and I hated those as well. Pretty much the only thing I disliked about my little 3DR Magic Black 6-speed GTI! Lovely car. I can only imagine the Mk7 is a peach...

While there are other cars I would buy for $240k, I do love the Sport classic as well. There was one at the porsche exhibit at the local art museum. https://flic.kr/p/nVjqkG

Which one would you choose? I find the 997 more spacious since the center console goes down instead of slanted across (I'm 6'6" so this is important), and I also like the wider beefier look of the 991 series. But the Sport Classic has Fuchs and less wasted space underneath the rear tail lights. Comparing the two is like comparing a ballerina dancer to a more muscular athlete I find. I think I'd take the Club Coupe. More rare as well.

Yeah you're right. It doesn't get much better than that.

Unfortunately, I think that exhibit is gone now. It was only temporary and I went several months ago.

I'd have the sport classic. It's a 997.2, so the engine is bulletproof (as, I'm sure is the 991) and the IMS is not an issue. The 997 for me feels like a return to the "true" 911 styling after the "oops" moment of the 996 generation. The 991 is again something different, and it's a much bigger car. Although the 997.1 has been described as slightly more raw than the 997.2, I still think I prefer either to the 991, especially if the car isn't going to be a daily driver. Plus, what do you think about the interior of the sport classic? It's immaculate! The 991 interior has a bit of a busy look to it (borrowed from the Panamera, I guess), but the colors are pretty great. Both are available with manual transmission, which is awesome. All things considered, I'd stick with my gut and take the sport classic.

Interesting. I'm the opposite. I think the basic Carrera is boring. I want aero bits, cooler wheels, etc. So the Sport Classic definitely does it for me!

That's #stance I can live with.

No, this car is not stanced. Not every car with aftermarket wheels and a lowered suspension is stanced. There's no stupid tire stretch, no excessive lowering, and no excessive camber. Not stanced. Stancebros don't get to claim a car this nice.

Given that this is my current car, I feel like I was lying above when I said that I'm a fan of a basic 911.

It used to be when you saw a car that sat low, with little wheel gap, you'd say it has a nice stance.

Unfortunately people went and hijacked the term.

True, that's why I avoid the word at all costs. Ugh, stancebros.
